the inner school
The heart of the Sufi Way is an inner school dedicated to nurturing mystic awakening in individuals. Based on a tradition of oral teachings and an emphasis on direct personal experience, the inner school typically functions in small group contexts and through one-on-one spiritual direction.
Although the inner school of the Sufi Way is a mystical order with ancient roots, it is nevertheless non-sectarian and does not promote particular doctrines or require certain beliefs. It draws on the teachings of Sufi Inayat Khan, the mystical traditions within Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and other religions, as well as the discoveries of modern science and psychology.
Those wishing to learn more about this path are welcome to participate in all public Sufi Way programs and activities. For those with a sincere wish to go further in the inner school, a simple ceremony of initiation is entered into which is understood as a “welcome and a blessing.” Initiates in the Sufi Way are then welcome to work with a spiritual director for more intensive practice in the inner school.
